Crochet Cupid Pattern
Rooted in Roman mythology, Cupid is generally known as a god of love. It is true that his Roman name (Cupido) means desire (as does his Latin counterpart Eros) and his other Latin name amor of course means love but you might find there's more to the famous cherub if you look into myths about him. Probably most well-known is the story of Cupid and Psyche, which is said to have inspired Beauty and the Beast. Most people are familiar with the idea of Cupid's bow striking a person with desire/love but he also had an arrow which would create the opposite effect. Over time Eros went from being portrayed as a slendered winged youth to the chubby little boy we know today and which has come to be associated with Valentine's Day.
