Crochet Medieval Queen Doll Pattern
When doing historical dolls or dolls based on real people I actually do a
lot of research to keep it as accurate as possible (of course this means a
lot of scaling it down so that it is feasible and looks goods) but you
may have noticed that this of course is not what you'd traditionally think
of a medieval queen wearing. On television and movies we often see long beautiful curls with braids
which explains why I've done so here: this is actually based off a depiction
of Guinevere from Merlin. The religiosity of medieval life meant that married women would
generally cover up most of their hair for propriety's sake and of
course to dress more elaborately than this, in the later medieval period there was a greater
distinction between the way royals were allowed to dress and the way
commoners were (think colours).
This pattern is available for purchase on my Etsy shop (along with more details) or raverly.
It will come as a downloadable PDF, which includes multiple pictures to follow along with and is worked in one piece. This pattern is in English and uses US crochet terminology.
