Crochet Santa Claus
It is well known that Santa Claus has roots in the historical figure of Saint
Nicholas, the latter has many stories and miracles attributed to him from which
we can sometimes see connections to the figure of Santa. However I'm going to
share one of the more bizarre stories about him (beware that this story is a bit
disturbing and is a latter edition which lends it less credence if you didn't
already have doubts about it). The story essential goes that three little boys
looking for food are welcomed into a butchers house (sometimes an innkeeper) who
then proceeds to kill them and cut them up into little bits to be placed into a
pickling barrel and latter sold as ham. Luckily for the boys, several years
alter Saint Nicholas came to this place and after being taken to the barrel he
made the sign of the cross and brought the boys back to life. Hence (in addition
to other stories) his role as the patron saint of children.
